Overview- SimCity 4 arrived early in 2003, close to 4 years after the previous installment of SimCity, SimCity 3000. SimCity 4 brought some major changes to the game including exceptional graphics, new building types as well as "Regions" that allowed users to create groups of cities as a part of a larger whole. SimCity 4 also brought a new level to terrain design not seen since SimCity 2000 with exquisite 3D graphics, day and night lighting as well as super close zoom levels.

However, while tame with smaller cities, SimCity 4 was found to be a major resource hogger as the size of the city grew, with even modern day top computer systems straining under the processing load. While the Mac version of the game was not as performance hindered as the Mac version of SimCity 3000, Mac gamers still found many of their new machines inadequate to run the game.
