The Stone Table

Download SC4 Lots

The Stone Table was the centerpiece of a mysterious ancient monument in Narnia. The site, situated on a hill, was somewhat similar to Stonehenge in Britain, which also featured a rock of sacrifice surrounded by stone pillars. On the table itself was written the "deep magic from the dawn of time," a code of natural law laid down by the great Emperor-over-the-sea. This code demanded that treachery be paid for in blood. One night, the God-lion Aslan took that debt upon himself. This SimCity 4 lot depicts that night.

The smoky "tinyfires," the closest thing the game has to torches, look more like bonfires than anything I wanted. It still looks good, but it's wrong.

Stone Table

This was the same lot without the fires. For sims to play the Witch's minions, I needed both animals and humans acting like animals. The richest source of the latter turned out to be little-league spectators. Seriously, this hill is covered with dozens of angry, yelling, booing, arm-waving parents and siblings.

Here is the site again the next morning, when the tide turned against the White Witch. Aslan stands with Susan and Lucy before the broken table, ready to free the Witch's captives and finally end both her reign and her life. (Note the unexplained lack of refuse from the previous night's festivities.)

Stone Table

I wanted to take the photo at sunrise, but "Aslan" was borrowed from the city zoo and is therefore only "on display" from 6 AM to 10 PM; dawn in the game is 4-5 AM, and dusk lacks the target "golden phase." I had even more trouble getting everyone to display together properly for the night scene, which was actually shot at dusk....
