Will Wright presented during an event entitled "Playing With Time" on generating content from a minimal set of rules. Wright proceeded to demonstrate Spore while Brian Eno provided ambient background music, hopefully we can expect a video out of this.

TwitchGuru has a very interesting bit on "the best games never published," including one of our favorites, SimMARS. The piece is brief, but it comments that SimMARS was never completed because of a lack of resources, as well as making mention of the SimMARS project over at Simtropolis.

Aspyr has just recently posted on their projects page that Open for Business is in development for the Mac version of The Sims 2. The release date posted on the project page is September 2006, however the game is only listed as being in "early development" at this point.

Today, 1 June 2006, marks the fifth anniversary of the first appearance of SimGlobal on the internet. In our five years online, we have seen the release of SimCity 4, The Sims 2, many expansion packs for both; we have witnessed the cancellation of Simsville and SimMars; and the announcement for Will Wright's much anticipated new game, Spore. We have seen many websites open their doors to SimFans and we have said goodbye to several friends and affiliates in the SimWeb community. SimGlobal has gone through five different designs, culminating in the unveiling of the present version on March 13th of this year. From humble beginnings at http://simglobal.webexalt.com (now defunct) to our current home, it has been an interesting five years on the web. We hope to continue providing news and information about Sim games for many years to come.
